First-Time Visitors Checklist
-
DO YOU HAVE A TECHNICAL LIAISON? A technical liaison is assigned to all
visitors coming to work at the LHO. Visitors are responsible to:
-
(1) request that a TECHNICAL LIAISON be assigned to them;
-
(2) direct this request in advance of their visit to the Observatory Head,
Fred Raab, and
-
(3) use the TECHNICAL LIAISON to help coordinate and facilitate their activities
during their stay. NOTE: Fred Raab will also serve in whatever capacity
is required when other responsible parties are unavailable.
-
HAVE YOU READ THE INFORMATION FOR VISITORS FORM? You will be asked to read,
agree to and sign a visitors form that is kept on file at the observatory.
Its purpose is to help you "know the ropes." Rather than waste time
reading literature away from home, get your pdf copy here!
-
ARE YOU LASER CERTIFIED? Unescorted access to laser hazard zones will require
special on-site training, but before this you need to complete your basic
laser certification, including your eye exam. Your can easily kill
a day or two of your valuable travel time getting through the exams and
certification if you do not get past basic laser certification back on
campus!
-
DO YOU NEED STEEL-TOED SAFETY SHOES? Another way to lose valuable travel
time is to leave needed safety equipment behind.
-
HAVE YOU REMEMBERED NOT TO BRING OR SHIP CONTROLLED ITEMS TO THE OBSERVATORY?
-
No chemicals may be brought onto the observatory grounds without clearance
from Otto Matherny.
-
No lasers may be brought onto the observatory grounds without clearance
from Doug Cook.
